About the Taste

 

Started in 1988 as a food and wine competition, the Taste of the Hudson Valley® consisted of just under fifteen restaurants and around five local wineries.

In 1999, Michael Visconti, proprietor of Viscount Wines and Liquor in Wappingers Falls, NY, stepped forward helping to continue the success of the Taste while transforming it into the premier food and wine pairing event of the Northeast. Mike’s motivation: “To offer the Hudson Valley one of the finest food and wine events people could possibly attend.”

Today, the Taste of the Hudson Valley® incorporates nearly 50 restaurants and purveyors throughout the region – each skillfully paired with two world-class, international wines. The result: close to 100 food and wine pairings and an epicurean event that attracts individuals from all over the nation!

All proceeds benefit Saint Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Poughkeepsie, New York, home of the busiest Level II Trauma Center in New York State. To date well over $1 million has been raised for the greatest needs of Saint Francis Hospital.

Also included – a spectacular live and silent auction of fine art, rare wines, exclusive trips, celebrity-autographed memorabilia and much, much more!
